CloudRail closes round of funding for API marketplace

APIs are used by developers to let apps, cloud services and smart devices talk to each other. Regardless the almost endless possibilities coming with connected services, developers face many technical challenges – which has been solved by API integration provider CloudRail

Lately, the company has announced a high six-digit investment from the family office of Ulrich Turck, Managing Director and Shareholder of the Turck Group, one of the leading automation manufacturer, ISB and existing investors. The funding will enable the company to extend it’s current toolset for developers into an API marketplace to connect API providers to the developer community.

CloudRails existing integration solutions have become a standard tool for developers to connect for example cloud storage providers like Dropbox or Google Drive or plenty other services into their applications. With unified APIs and a streamlined process for API integrations and maintenance, the company was able to become an essential part of a high number of applications on the market with a total reach of more than 60 million customers.

“We know the pain points developers have very well and built tools which got quickly adopted by the worldwide developer community. With the new round, we’ll extend our toolset into a full marketplace to help developers build connected applications faster, but also give API providers access to our developer community”, says Felix Kollmar, co-founder and CEO of CloudRail.

Specifically, the start-up will extend its current offering of unified APIs to address new verticals. Besides additional SaaS areas, the (Industrial) Internet of Things will play a key role. In addition, it will allow more API providers to offer their services via the platform to access CloudRail’s developer community. The company also plans to give providers more opportunities to present and promote their API offering to developers. “Our vision is to become the central go-to point for all kind of integrations”, Felix outlines.

“A growing number of companies understand the value of APIs and strategic integrations into 3rd party systems. In most cases, they are able to realize the API technically but fail in building a developer community around it. CloudRail understands this market very well and built the right toolset to attract developers”, says Ulrich Turck, Managing Director of the Turck Group.

Developers can use the solution for free from https://cloudrail.com, with some premium packages available. CloudRail is available for most big platforms like Android, iOS, Node.js or Java and an ever-growing number of categories like cloud storage, messaging, social and many more.
